Beginning Knit I
Want to learn to knit? This is where it all starts. This class teaches the basic stitches (knit & purl), how to cast on and bind off. We will get you started knitting a simple scarf pattern. Sign up and find out how much fun knitting really is!

Beginning Knit II
Now that you are sufficiently hook on knitting, here is the continuation of the beginner class.  Learn the basics of increasing and decreasing stitches and reading basic patterns. This class is the step before you join the Beyond the Basics class.

Personal Footprints for Insouciant Sock Knitters  Wednesday Evening  7 - 9PM
Learn a new way to knit socks using Cat Bordhi's exciting new method.   The sock is worked 100% in the round, and there are no stitches to be picked up, no heel flap, no holes.  Just, as Cat says, "carefree knitting and a perfect fit."  These may well be the easiest socks you ever knit!

Materials: Personal Footprints for Insouciant Knitters  by Cat Bordhi, 2 24" circular needles, or 1 40" circular (Addis work best) size 1 or 2, 1 ball sock yarn, and cardboard.

Entrelac: Scarf in a 3 session class:
Another advanced knitting skill to amaze your knitting friends.  Create a beautiful tonal scarf with entrelac, the knitting that looks like you have been weaving while knitting! A 3 session class.  Instructor: Robin Schmidt

Materials: 450 yards (or more) or striping yarn of choice...gauge isn't important!  The thicker the yarn the more plush the scarf!

Double Knitting (2 2-Hour Sessions) Sundays 12 - 2PM
Learn to knit fully reversible fabric! With this class you will learn the basics of double knitting and complete an extra warm headband or hat.  Patterns will be provided, or I will help you design your very own!

Materials: Two colors of Cascade 220 Superwash, Needles ( DPN's or circulars) that give you a gauge of 6 sts per inch in stockinette stitch.

Squared Away Fingerless Gloves (2 2-Hour Sessions) Sundays 12 - 2PM
Explore the versatility of mitered squares and make a pair of fingerless gloves.  These are perfect for gifts and make a great take along project.


Materials: One (for small) or two (for medium) skeins of Mirasol Hacho.  Needles (DPN's or circulars) that give you a gauge of 6 sts per inch in stockinette stitch, and a stitch holder.

The Great American Afghan Sit Along with Robin

Class meets last sunday of every month, beginning January 29, 2012  at noon for 2 hours.  Cost $10.00 per session--pay as you go!

Work on the Great American Afghan squares at a leisurely yet somewhat strucured pace.  Get help with the more difficult, perhaps frustrating designs, before you throw the whole thing in the fireplace!

All are welcome, start anytime you like.



Crochet Today! Saturday 12 - 2 PM
Learn the basics of crochet like chains, single crochet, double crochet and learn how to read a pattern, or a new stitch. This class can be helpful to a beginner as well as the advanced crocheter.

Mittens: An easy 2 session class
Learn easy mittens, and even spice them up with fabulous stripes! Learn how to do the "jog-less stripe" while using two or more colors!  Line these with fleece and give your tootsies even more protection from Chicago's Tundra! Instructor: Robin Schmidt

Materials:  220 yds worsted weight yarn of choice and size 6 DPN or needles to obtain gauge of 5 st per inch.  Cascade Superwash is an excellent choice! 

Beyond the Basics
Okay, you're really hooked and need to come back for more. This class is open to knitters of all skill levels. Learn a new technique on a project of your choice. Take your knitting to the next level with ongoing assistance from an instructor. This class can be taken again and again.

Policy for all Knitting and Crochet Classes:

1) Pre-registration is required with a deposit to reserve space in all classes.
2) Due to the limited space, we need a full week’s notice if you need to cancel your space in a class in order to receive a refund before the start of a class.
3) Materials must be purchased from out shop prior to the day the class begins (unless prior arrangements have been made). Ask when you register what materials will be needed. A 10% discount is given.
4) No Make-up classes. Sorry, if you miss a class, you miss a class.
5) For Beyond the Basics classes, students are encouraged to sign up for the discounted 4-session package price.
