For a long time there was this static image of knitting. Not any longer. Today’s great variety of yarns and textures has made knitting dynamic!
Often called “the new yoga” because of its soothing effect, knitting is alive and well here at the Woolly Lamb Yarn Studio in historic Norwood Park. We’re at 6007 N. Nina Ave., just one block west of the Norwood Park Metra station.
Experienced knitters and beginners wishing to learn the ancient craft can choose from a great selection of gorgeous yarns from around the world. Among the major brand names we carry are Noro, Classic Elite, Cascade, Jade Sapphire, Berocco, Plymouth, Maggi Knits, Debbie Bliss, Karabella, Sirdar, and Crystal Palace, to name a few. You’ll find a wide variety of the softest baby alpaca, basic knitting worsteds, and baby yarns, novelty yarns, as well as fine Mongolian cashmere. We have wonderful buttons from Germany, a great selection of patterns, and “how to” instructions – a complete line of knitting accessories.
The Woolly Lamb Yarn Studio also offers a variety of knitting and crocheting classes for adults and children. Another of the cozy studio’s highlights is “All You Can Knit Nite,” every Thursday from 6 to 8 PM, when knitters and crocheters come with their favorite projects to knit or crochet, relax, and share knitting experiences and ideas. A great time to make new friends.
Owner Brigitte Biver has lived in Norwood Park since 1967. After 20 years in international finance, she says, the time was right for a calmer, gentler line of work. According to Brigitte, Old Norwood’s quaintness and nostalgic ambience make it an ideal community setting for knitting. Call Brigitte at (773) 631-6208 for further information.
